Bespoke by Design: Our Custom Case Process
Unlike generic suppliers, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. At Needles and Pins Aerospace, each project begins with a deep understanding of your equipment, operational context, and the unique threats it may face.
Here’s how our custom case development process works:
1. Initial Consultation & Requirement Gathering
We begin with a comprehensive brief—exploring the nature of the equipment, expected conditions of use, deployment frequency, transport methods, and compliance needs.
We work with:
-
Ministry of Defence project leads
-
Defence procurement officers
-
OEM suppliers and integrators
-
Tactical unit representatives
2. Technical Design & Prototyping
Our design team translates requirements into 3D CAD models, detailing shell dimensions, foam cutouts, mounting supports, and surface treatments. Clients receive:
-
Visual mock-ups and material samples
-
Environmental risk assessments
-
Pre-production prototypes (if required)
3. Foam Engineering & Padding Configuration
Every piece of equipment is protected by custom-cut, shock-absorbing foam inserts, using high-density polyethylene (HDPE), closed-cell polyurethane, or anti-static foams, depending on equipment sensitivity.
We consider:
-
Weight distribution and balance
-
Drop-resistance and kinetic dampening
-
Quick-access grooves for rapid deployment
-
Colour-coded and labelled compartments
4. Final Manufacturing & Testing
All cases are manufactured in our UK-based aerospace-certified facility, with batch testing for resilience, flammability, ingress, and material stress. We offer:
-
Documentation and certification packages
-
Serialisation and traceability
-
Quality assurance inspections before shipment
